  1. I went to visit my brother in DC we had used his bicycles to get around town and would weave in and out of traffic-it was amazing we did not get hit. I would follow him and could not take the same paths because the holes made by the cars would disappear (only for a new one to open up). the 2 of us liked to race-i will miss these type of jaunts on the town

  2. this is lizz his sister we shared a bedroom until he about 10 years old. our room was set up with our beds facing foot to foot. we loved to jump from bed to bed and most of the time we would break the beds then mom would get upset. one stormy night we were being baby sat by our neighbor mona johnson. we were told to go to bed around 8 pm. and not to jump on the beds or we would get in trouble. the storm was getting very loud due to the amount of thunder. we were lying in our beds playing a game we made up called "buggy" with our flashlights ( another memory i will tell you about later) all of a sudden there was a bah bah boom then a flash of lightning just as the flash of lightning filled the room with light christopher flew over me like an airplane arms wide with a facial expression of surprise he landed on top of me and we broke the bed. we laughed until our faces hurt then mona came in told us she would tell our mother. needless to say mona never baby sat us again.

  3. the game buggy. first you need a bedroom, flash light, a brother and a sister. Play rock paper scissors to decide who was it. then the light would be turned off by who was it the flash light would go on, the light from the flash light would leave a circle of light on the wall called buggy the the person who was it would move the buggy all over the room the other would try to hit the buggy with their hand if you missed the buggy would keep moving if you did not miss it was your turn to hold the flash light.

  4. Every time I see the movie “Big” I think of my cousin Christopher. Not only because of the striking likeness to the preteen in the movie but also the way in which the movie seemed to capture Christopher’s effervescent spirit.

Forty years and about 2763 spiritual journeys later, I realize that Christopher had it all along. Happiness is not getting what you want, it is wanting what you have. (The theme for “Big” if you watch it again) That boy could find a thousand adventures in an empty cardboard refrigerator box . It became a racecar or a spaceship or most often a bobsled with about five good trips down a snowy hill before it fell apart.

Our summer trips to the cabin were like other kids visiting an amusement park. Christopher didn’t need Disney to supply the imagination. The sounds in the wilderness provided the days thrills and beneath every stone and behind every tree there was a new world yet to discover.

All three of Ann and Gene’s kids have a sort of sophisticated etiquette mixed with a razor sharp wit and enough intellect to make them unique, funny and astoundingly interesting to be around. It does not surprise me at all that Christopher could waltz into the highest echelons, contribute , observe and share his experiences to the people closest to him like it was a mason jar full of tadpoles. My Aunt and Uncle should be very proud to have laid the foundation for such a life.

I am honored to be able to carry the memory of Christopher’s spirit with me until I see him again.

    All my best ,
    Love,

    Tess (Bolkcom) Whitehurst
